I often see this question in the eyes of people who ask me what I do for a living, even after I’ve given an industry accepted professional definition of what Kinesiology is.
Clients also struggle to describe Kinesiology when they want to share the positive life changing effect it’s had on them. Hearing phrases like ‘I don’t understand it, but it works!’ and ‘Kinesi-what?’ prompted me to summarise the key points about what Kinesiology is:
- Kinesiology (pronounced Kin-easy-ology) is a holistic natural therapy which uses neurological feedback to identify and restore imbalances in the body’s energy systems. This helps the body to heal itself naturally on a physical, emotional, mental, bio-chemical and spiritual level.
- A Kinesiologist communicates with your subconscious to find out what is out of whack (called an imbalance), what caused it and what is needed to fix it by monitoring a muscle’s response when questions are asked or specific actions performed.
- For example, emotional stress can cause physical pain. By addressing the emotional stress, the physical pain can be resolved.
Imbalances:
- Are mainly caused by emotional trauma, stress, injury or nutrition.
- May contribute to anxiety, depression, pain, postural problems, inflexibility, injury, imbalance, poor performance, allergies, food sensitivities, lack of personal direction, fatigue, digestive problems, learning difficulties, neurological disorganisation, weight gain, fears and phobias, general health problems, relationship problems and nervous disorders.
- Are corrected by non-invasive techniques like acupressure massage, lymphatic massage, light touch, nutritional advice, muscle stretching and remedies such as flower essences.
